The Night Comes for Us

Review

This movie isn’t for the squeamish. As expected, this Triad martial arts gun-fest is over-the-top and ultra-violent.

There are some interesting characters, each with their unique style. The fight scenes are gory and unflinching – each getting longer and more intense. There is copious amounts of blood and bone snapping. The noises will make make your toes curl.

There is some stylish lighting and set design, but along with the camera work, it was very raw and could have been improved. The sound design was distracting in a lot of places, most notably in the non-action sequences.

But holy shit, the final battle is insane. Two equally matched opponents fighting to the death. Each acting like a cornered rabid animal as they both become more desperate and injured.

If you’re looking for more like this, I can recommend The Raid.
